Long
Forestry recently participated in a
prescribed burning training class for the
Makanda Fire Department in Makanda,
IL. The class was held with the
coopertaion of the SIUC Firedawgs, the USFS
from the Murphysboro office, and the Makanda
Volunteer Fire Department. The purpose
of the class was to introduce to the MFD to controlled burning, and
to build on the relationship between the
fire department, the USFS, and the Firedawgs.
A class session was held and instructed by
Dennis Carrill, with a field session in the
afternoon. The field session consisted
of a fire truck/water hose course conducted
by Scott Crist of the USFS and a prescribed
burn conducted by Dennis Carrill.
