2010
Skyline
Farms Burn |
Below, Mike is conducting the pre-bid
meeting, which is a small training session
focusing on the days burn. Each burn
begins with a pre-burn meeting to discuss
the methods of ignition, the weather,
individual responsibilities, among other
important details.
We also inspect and test run the
equipment before each burn. Below is
the Long Forestry pumper truck and Polaris
pumper unit.

Below Kory manages the water hose on the
Polaris.

Below are Japanese
honeysuckle vines burning during a

clear this area of invasive species and to
restore native habitat.

Below and on the left is a picture of a wilted honeysuckle

Morti Burn
|
The head fire chases the
flanks on both sides of this grassland burn
outside of Carbondale, IL.

|
This grassland was burned
to provide better feeding conditions for
live stock.
 |
West Walden Burn
Long Forestry provided a 6 man crew for
the IDNR to do a burn at the West Walden
Nature Preserve near Peoria, IL.
|
Andy,
Mike, and Tim prepare for the burn at West
Walden, outside of Peoria, IL.
 |
This is a fire proofed snag to prevent it
from catching on fire during the burn.
 |
Bloos Burn
|
Tim
uses the leaf blower to clear leaves off the
fire line.

Andy sets the backing fire on the fire
line to create the black line.
 |
Andy uses a council rake to clear vines
another woody debris from the fire line.

Mike uses the hose on the pumper truck
to create a wet line near some power lines.

|
A patch of Japanese honeysuckle burns during
the prescribed fire. There was
also multi-flora rose and autumn olive
burned and set back in this fire.
 |
Smoke still drifts in the woods after
the fire is gone.
The results of the woodland burn
and the grassland burn on the Bloos property
in southern Illinois.
