SIUC Sediment Runoff Project |
|
| Long
Forestry's local tree care division,
Lumberjack Tree Care, completed a
project with SIUC's agricultural division in
February 2008.
SIU placed flumes in 3 creeks near
agricultural fields whose purpose is to
measure the amount of sediment runoff
washing into the creeks. Lumberjack
Tree Care provided the trucking and skid
steer service to haul 6" rip rap into the
site and put it in place with our skid
steer. The job was completed ahead of
schedule and the work received high grades
for quality and meeting the specifications,
which is usually very important when your
are working on a scientific experiment. |

The chutes collected sediment during periods
of high flowing water to measure the rate of
erosion from the surrounding fields.
