Tree Removal and Sectional Dismantling
|
|
The removal of a tree is most common for old and
decaying trees, when the trunk is rotting away
and the chance of the tree falling is greatly
increased. The reasons for removal vary.
Some are changing needs for the land owners
space, the threat of the decaying tree falling
on a building, and even the desire not to rake
leaves or sweet gum balls ever again.
There are 2 ways for tree removal and we will
discuss each here.
|
|
The first removal technique is to simply drop
the tree in to an open area, using a face cut
followed by a back cut or a bore cut. Once
the tree has been felled it is cut up into
workable sections and hauled off. |
 |
|
The second method is called sectional
dismantling. Sectional dismantling is
the process of taking down medium to large sized
trees a piece at a time. This involves
using ropes and spikes to climb the tree, then
if needed, the use of ropes to lower the
branches to the ground.
This technique is ideal
for trees that are dead, dangerous, storm
damaged, overhanging buildings & property or
sites which have difficult access and/or
confined space. |
|
Below Mike is performing a sectional
removal. Below the tree are
multiple saplings and near the tree is a
hedge row, another tree, and a garage.
The tree could not be dropped and great
care was needed in order to not cause
damage to the other items around it. |

|
| Once we have the tree on the
ground it is cut up into manageable pieces
to be removed from the property, or the
owner can keep the wood. Long Forestry
uses a Ford dump truck, a Case skid steer,
trailers and pick up trucks and a chipper
for this job. |
