 Land Management Plans

A landowners Land Management Plan is a 10 year plan that details what is on the land owners property, the characteristics of the  land, and how to use and manage it.  You will learn everything from what types of trees and grasses are on your land and what types of soils they grow in, to the types of animal species that may be present.  A series of aerial and topographic maps made by Long Forestry are also included.  Then, based on your goals for your natural lands, the Management Plan tells you exactly how to achieve them.
These prescriptions could be conducting a prescribed burn, a thinning using chainsaws, evasive or exotic species removal, under-replanting, a sustainable harvest, or even no action at all.

An important part of the management plan is the Forest Inventory.  This inventory involves collecting the data in the field to write the plan.  Tree measurements, invasive plants, topography, and slope are just some of the types of data we use when writing a management plan.  To learn more about conducting a forest inventory, please click here.

Soil surveys are also important when making management decisions.  A soil survey is performed to determine what types of soils are present on different parts of the land.  Without knowing the soil type found in the woodland a forester can not make accurate and informed management decisions.

If you are managing for harvest, sustainability, wildlife, aesthetic beauty, and/or ecosystem restoration, Long Forestry will provide the knowledge and skills to get you there.

A sample management plan written by Mike Long is available by request.
You will find that our management plans are the most detailed and comprehensive plans available.   Please contact us to view a sample management plan.
